2026 recruitment calendar for 12.5mn posts to be out soon: CM
Jaipur, Feb. 28 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday announced that the state government will release a recruitment calendar for 12.5 million posts in 2026.
Replying to the debate on the Appropriation Bill in the Rajasthan Assembly, Sharma added that a 36-kilometre elevated road will be built along the Dravyavati river in Jaipur to ease mounting traffic congestion in the state capital.
He also announced that work on the Rs.13,600-crore Jaipur Metro Phase-II project, spanning 42.80 kilometres will begin soon.
Sharma also announced that 300 new buses will be inducted into the State Road Transport Corporation fleet to improve connectivity and commuter convenience. Additionally, an extra Rs.500 crore proposal will be brought for the construction of missing link roads to enhance connectivity in rural and semi-urban areas, he said.
The chief minister also announced the setup of a Kaushal Vikas (Skill Development) Hub in Balotra district to promote industry-oriented training and boost local employment prospects.
Launching a scathing rattack on the Opposition, Sharma accused the Congress of announcing "projects after projects" during its tenure but delivering "not zero, but double zero" on the ground.
The chief minister questioned the Congress' willingness to face a performance debate. "We accepted their challenge, but they did not have the courage to face the discussion," he said, alleging that internal rifts within the Congress prevented a meaningful debate in the House.
Sharma claimed the Opposition walked out because it had "nothing concrete to present" before the people.
In a veiled swipe at former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Sharma said senior leaders should speak inside the Assembly rather than making statements outside.
He also referred to past friction between Gehlot and his former deputy, remarking that internal disputes of the Congress should not be raised through the ruling party.
The chief minister asserted that his government had implemented over 34 new policies and was committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people. He said Rajasthan was emerging as a strong growth engine in the journey toward a developed India by 2047.
Highlighting economic indicators, Sharma said the state's per capita income had risen from Rs 1.67 lakh two years ago to over Rs 2.02 lakh - an increase of more than 21 per cent. He added that the state's annual revenue receipts for 2026-27 were projected at Rs 3.25 lakh crore, a 14.09 per cent rise over the previous year, while capital expenditure would exceed Rs.1 lakh crore. "A stronger economy allows us to invest more in development," he said.
The chief minister also stressed fiscal discipline, stating that the fiscal deficit had been contained at 3.6 per cent within FRBM limits, lower than the previous government's average of 4.25 per cent. He said the current budget size was nearly 41 per cent larger than the last budget presented by the previous Congress government.
On irrigation, Sharma assured that work on bringing Yamuna water to Rajasthan was progressing, with mutual agreement between states and preparation of the DPR underway. "It is not as simple as fitting a pipe into a tap," he remarked, defending the timeline.
Accusing the Congress of being disconnected from common people, Sharma said his government remained committed to farmers and public welfare....
