2 killed in suspected hate crime, 1 arrested
Bharatpur, June 24 -- A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday for killing his sister-in-law and her 11-month-old son in Dholpur, police said, adding that the woman's 17-year-old brother was also detained in the case.
The woman's family allegedly opposed her intercaste marriage.
Dholpur SP Sumit Meherada said that the body of a 22-year-old woman and her son were found at Dholpur railway station on June 17. Initial investigations uncovered a hate crime plot, added Meherada. He added that the deceased were identified as Twinkle Yadav, originally from Mathura in UP, and her son Rudra Yadav.
"Twinkle had eloped with Vipin Yadav from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, two years ago. The couple and their son were living in Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh, as Twinkle's parents did not approve of the intercaste marriage," added Meherada.
The SP added that Yadav's sister's husband Mithun Singh Thakur and her brother lured Yadav back to Mathura. Upon reaching Dholpur railway station, they took her and her son to a secluded spot and strangled them, he added.
Thakur was presented before the Dholpur district court and sent for two days of police remand, while Yadav's brother has been detained. They were booked under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence), police added....
