Jaipur, Jan. 23 -- A speeding car killed a father on the spot and injured his son in Jaipur late on Wednesday night, while an SUV crushed an 18-year-old girl to death in a separate hit-and-run on Tuesday on the Jaipur expressway, police said. Police have arrested the driver involved in Wednesday's accident while they are on the lookout for the accused in the second incident. Accident police station (West) SHO Ramkripal, on Wednesday Hanuman (58), a resident of Radha Krishna Colony on Niwaru Road, died during treatment at SMS Hospital, while his son Amit sustained minor injuries and was discharged after first aid. The duo ran a chaat cart near Collectory Circle. Police said that around 10pm, Hanuman and Amit were returning home on foot with their cart when a speeding car from the Collectory side rammed them from behind on Kabir Marg. The driver abandoned the damaged vehicle and tried to flee, but alert locals chased him for nearly 100 metres and caught him. Officers seized the car and arrested the driver, identified as Suresh. Both victims were rushed to SMS Hospital, where doctors declared Hanuman dead on arrival. A post-mortem was conducted, and the body was handed over to the family. In the Tuesday case near Shantibagh Hanuman Temple under Karni police station limits, Anaya, a resident of Jhunjhunu who had come to Jaipur for an Air Force physical examination and was staying with her sister, was jogging early morning with her sibling when the high-speed Thar hit her from behind, killing her instantly. The SUV then rammed another car before the driver abandoned it near Dadi Ka Phatak and fled. Locals rushed Anaya to hospital, but she was declared dead. After post-mortem, her body was handed over to the family. Police have seized the Thar, registered in the name of Jitendra Chaudhary, a resident of Sawai Madhopur.
