2 killed as illegal mine in Bhilwara collapses
Jaipur, June 6 -- Two labourers lost their lives after being trapped under debris when an illegally operated mine collapsed in Bhilwara on Wednesday, officials familiar with the matter said, adding that the bodies were recovered on Thursday morning.
"The incident happened on Wednesday at 6 pm when a huge rock fell inside the mines from the upper section. The mine was about 150-foot-deep. The two labourers, who have been working to clear some stones inside, got stuck under the debris," said Megha Goyal, Mandal DSP.
According to the officials, the local civic bodies and police officials rushed to the spot upon receiving the information of the incident. "It took over nine hours to take out the bodies."
"At around 8pm, a JCB arrived on the spot and started removing the debris. A large hamydraulic machine was also brought to remove the rock to initiate the rescue operation. Later, the SDRF team from Ajmer was called at around 12 pm when all these efforts failed," the DSP added. The deceased have been identified as Udairam Bheel (25) and Rajkumar Jatt (26). "Udai's body was recovered at around 6 am while Rajkumar's body was found at 9 am," said Goyal.

We have found some names who have been operating it without any license for over 15 years. However, the names are yet to be verified. Further probe is underway," the official said.
Meanwhile, the Mandal MLA Udailal Bhadana, who also reached the spot, said: "This mine was being run illegally by some local Congress leaders and the sarpanch. I will speak to the government to provide the victims with suitable compensation and take necessary actions against the culprits."
