Jaipur, Sept. 7 -- At least two people were killed and five others were injured on Saturday when a dilapidated residential building in Jaipur collapsed, officials said. Subhash Chowk inspector, Likhma Ram, said, "The incident happened wee hours of Saturday. It was a five-storey building and 19 people were staying there during the time of the accident. The two deceased, including a father and her daughter, were sleeping on the third floor." According to the police, the building was located near a private school in the city. "When the backside of the building started collapsing, 12 of the residents came out and fled. The entire building collapsed within a few seconds and the remaining seven people got stuck under the debris," said Likhma Ram. The incident was caused due to structural damage as a result of sustained heavy rainfall, he added. "After a two-hour-long effort, the SDRF team was able to recover two bodies and rescue five others at around 4 am. The injured were rushed to the Sawai Man Singh Hospital where they are undergoing treatment," said SHO. The deceased were identified as Prabhat Kumar (33) and her daughter Peehu (6). Meanwhile, Prabhat's wife Suneeta (25) was injured along with four other residents- Vasudev (34), his wife Sukanya (23), and their two sons- Sonu 4) and Rishi (6). Meanwhile, the commissioner of the Jaipur Heritage Municipality (JMC-H), Nidhi Patel, said, "The building was in a complete dilapidated state. JMC-H had issued two notices to the owner on August 13 and September 4 to vacate the building. But no action was taken leading to the mishap. There are about 126 buildings in similar condition under the JMC-H's area of which 10 are located in the Subhash Chowk where the accident took place." Police said that they will question the owners. However, no FIR has been lodged yet....
