Jaipur, Sept. 5 -- Disaster and relief department minister Kirodi Lal Meena informed the Rajasthan Assembly that 193 people have lost their lives and 36 others have been injured in incidents related to excessive rainfall and flooding across the state. He said that abnormal rainfall was recorded in 22 districts, while 16 districts received excess rainfall, and only three districts - Baran, Dungarpur, and Surguja - reported normal rainfall. Giving a detailed account of the devastation, the minister said Rajasthan has suffered extensive losses, with 347 small animals and 279 large animals reported dead, while 1,974 pucca houses, 752 kutcha houses, and 190 huts were destroyed. Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday about the heavy rainfall situation, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that from 1 June to 1 September, the state has received 56% more rainfall than average. He issued special instructions to MLAs to conduct intensive inspections of their respective constituencies from 5th to 7th September to ensure timely relief for citizens.
