15 booked as mining mafia attack security teams in Bharatpur: Cops
Bharatpur, Dec. 17 -- At least 15 people were booked after they attacked the forest and Border Home Guard teams at a checkpoint in Bharatpur, while they were illegally transporting sand stones, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place on Friday night under Gadhi Bajna police station when mining mafia were illegally transporting around five tractor trolleys full of sand stones.
The team at the forest department checkpoint, stopped them but around 10 to 12 people started pelting stones at the teams. They also tried to snatch a rifle from security personnel. During the attack, teams fled away to escape and informed senior officials about the incident.
Jitendra Foujdar, ranger of the forest department, Gadhi Bajna block said: "Four personnel of forest department and four personnel of Border Home guard were deployed at the checkpoint for routine checkup. Five tractor trolleys were transporting illegal sand stones where around 10 to 12 people by motorcycles were escorting them."
"They started the attack by pelting stones at the teams. A forest vehicle was also damaged by them," Foujdar said.
Bhagwan Singh, assistant forest officer registered complaint on Saturday against Bablu Gurjar, Suraj Gurjar, Banti Gurjar and 12 others, native of village Paroua under Gadhi Bajna police station for transporting illegal sand stones and attack teams. Shyam Lal Meena, Gadhi Bajana police station in-charge said that the accused, who attacked forest team have been identified. They are still absconding while the police are investigating....
