Jaipur, Aug. 4 -- In a stride towards modernising public education, 13,976 government schools in Rajasthan have been equipped with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) labs under the state government's flagship initiative, said an official statement, adding that 13,411 labs are functioning at the secondary and senior secondary levels, while 565 Adarsh (model) schools have also joined the digital network. A total of 17,421 smart classrooms have been set up across the state. The release states that government schools are moving away from the traditional "chalk and talk" approach, embracing smartboards, projectors, and digital content to create a more dynamic learning environment. Each lab is equipped with computers, printers, UPS systems, essential educational software, and internet connectivity. Additionally, proper furniture, power backup, and safety standards have been ensured so that no technical barriers hinder the learning process. The state government has appointed a trained ICT in-charge teacher in every school, who not only manages the lab but also guides students in digital learning. These teachers also periodically train other staff and administrators in the effective use of digital tools, helping the school move comprehensively toward digital transformation. "Today's students are no longer confined to textbooks. They are fully capable of exploring subjects online, preparing digital notes, participating in virtual quizzes, and joining online classes," the official release said. It added, "ICT labs and smart classrooms have played a key role in boosting their confidence, self-reliance, and digital literacy. Students now see computers not just as tools for gaming or entertainment, but as powerful instruments for shaping their future."...
