Jaipur, Oct. 23 -- A 4-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the Bilara area of Jodhpur on Wednesday after the accused lured her with the promise of buying toffee, police said, adding that the accused has been arrested. Police said the child has been hospitalized in a serious condition and a case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Police said the child's family rushed out after hearing her cries and she was immediately taken to Bilara hospital. Due to the seriousness of her condition, doctors provided primary care before referring her to a government hospital in Jodhpur, where she is currently undergoing medical treatment. The incident has sparked public outrage, leading to the closure of markets in Bilara town. Locals are demanding strict punishment for the perpetrator. SHO, Bilara police station, Sawai Singh Sodha said a case has been registered under the Pocso Act and other relevant sections based on the family's report. He said the child was referred to Jodhpur for treatment. He said the arrested accused is a 23-year-old JCB operator from Bharatpur district who had previously worked in the victim's village. He was recently in the village to attend a mourning gathering for a former Sarpanch (village head). Police suspect the accused knew the victim's family, as one of their relatives is also a JCB operator....
