Jaipur, Jan. 11 -- One person was killed and 15 others injured after a speeding Audi car hit at least 16 people near Kharabas Circle in Jaipur's Patrakar Colony area on Friday night, police said. According to police, the car first hit a divider and then went out of control. It rammed into roadside stalls and food carts over a stretch of about 30 metres before coming to a halt, police said, adding that people standing near the stalls were hit. The station house officer of the Patrakar Colony police station, Gunjan Soni, said, "The incident took place at around 10pm on Friday. The driver, Dinsh Ranwan, is a resident of Churu and an employee of a Jaipur-based solar plant. At the time of the accident, three more people including a Jaipur-based police constable Mukesh Kumar, and two other Pappu Chaudhary and Mukesh Chaudhary were present at the car." All injured people were taken to Jaipuria Hospital for primary treatment. Eight were admitted there, while some were taken to private hospitals or went home with family members. One of the injured, Ramesh Bairwa, a resident of Bhilwara, later died during treatment. Four critically injured patients were shifted to SMS Hospital, police said. Following the accident, all four fled while locals caught Pappu and handed him over to police immediately while Chaudhary was detained on Saturday morning from a nearby area. "However, Ranwan and Kumar are still absconding. Police are trying to trace them," Soni said. "At the time of the accident he was driving at 120 kilometres per hour. Losing control, it immediately broke a divider after which he pushed it into some roadside food stalls where about 50 people were present. He also sped up to flee and mowed down 16 vehicles," she said....
