Jaipur, June 5 -- In a major push toward environmental awareness and water conservation, the Rajasthan government has announced the launch of the 'Vande Ganga' Jal Sarankshan Jan Abhiyan, a state-wide public campaign to be held from June 5 to June 20, 2025. A senior official of Water Resource Department said the 15-day initiative will focus on rainwater harvesting, environmental protection, and cleanliness, with a series of events and activities planned across all districts. Various departments of the state government will participate, organizing programs at multiple levels to raise awareness and encourage community involvement. Aimed at promoting sustainable practices and responsible water use, the campaign is strategically timed to coincide with the monsoon season and World Environment Day on June 5. "The drive will include public outreach, educational workshops, clean-up drives, plantation efforts, and demonstrations of water conservation techniques." Highlighting the vital importance of water in our lives, the Rajasthan government emphasized the collective duty to conserve and maintain the cleanliness of water resources-rivers, streams, ponds, and other natural sources-to ensure sufficient clean water for future generations. Coinciding with World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra on June 5, the state will launch the 'Vande Ganga' Jal Sarankshan Jan Abhiyan on this day. "The campaign aims to promote water conservation and cleanliness ahead of the monsoon, enabling effective rainwater storage and long-term sustainability of water resources," he said. He said on Ganga Dushehra and World Environment Day on 05.06.2025, cleanliness drives, Shramdaan, lighting of lamps etc. will be organized at water sources, rivers, water conservation structures and ponds etc. As part of the initiative, district-level programs will be held under the chairmanship of the Minister-in-charge and Secretary-in-charge of each district.
