Jaipur, Feb. 23 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday said that the Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities are an integral part of India's civilisation and culture, describing them as deeply connected to the soil and embodiments of sacrifice and resilience. He expressed confidence that the state government remains committed to the welfare and empowerment of these communities. Addressing a conference of officers, employees and intellectuals from the Vimukt, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities at the auditorium of Adarsh Vidya Mandir in Ambabari, the chief minister said the government has taken concrete steps to strengthen these sections of society. He highlighted the distribution of residential land leases to nomadic families and the provision of hostel facilities to ensure education for their children. Sharma announced that in the Budget 2026-27, the government has introduced an innovative "Raj Pahal" initiative to ensure education for children of nomadic communities. "In the first phase, one School on Wheels will be established in every district," he said. The programme aims to become a milestone in expanding access to education. Additionally, temporary education camps will be organised in migration-affected areas, along with six-month school readiness camps in educational divisions, to ensure that children deprived of regular schooling due to migration are brought into the mainstream. Emphasising the historical contribution of nomadic communities, the chief minister said they played a vital role in preserving Indian culture and resisting foreign invasions. Before Independence, members of these communities travelled from village to village to raise awareness and significantly contributed to the country's economy, he said. He noted that they possess rich traditional knowledge and skills, including globally recognised metal craftsmanship. The trading acumen and travel traditions of the Banjara community, he said, once formed the backbone of India's trade routes. Describing the conference as a resolve to secure dignity, identity and a firm place in the mainstream of development, Sharma called upon the youth of the community to actively participate in the development of the state and the nation. He assured that suggestions related to the welfare and upliftment of nomadic communities would be given due consideration....
