'Raj records 7.1% rise in revenue collection'
Jaipur, March 11 -- Rajasthan has recorded a 7.1% rise in revenue collection during the current financial year compared to the same period last year, with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday attributing the growth to a stronger revenue system and reforms aimed at creating a transparent and simplified tax regime.
Chairing a review meeting at the Chief Minister's Office on revenue collection by various departments, Sharma directed officials to prepare a structured action plan to further enhance revenue receipts. He also called for the formation of a committee to regularly assess department-wise progress in achieving revenue targets.
The chief minister said GST reforms have provided relief to citizens and that Rajasthan is among the leading states in the use of data analytics in the GST sector, benefiting taxpayers. He instructed officials to develop a strong monitoring mechanism to prevent tax evasion and ensure transparency in the tax system. He also emphasised effective use of the Integrated Tax Management System to provide tax-related services on a single platform.
Officials informed the meeting that GST collection in the state has increased by nearly 8 per cent compared to last year.
Sharma said the Transport Department has recorded a 9.51% rise in revenue this year compared to the previous year. Revenue from green tax has doubled. He directed strict action against overloaded vehicles and called for systematic implementation of the vehicle scrapping policy.
The meeting was informed that reforms in DLC rates by the Registration and Stamps Department have led to a 16.34% increase in stamp duty revenue during the current year compared to the same period last year.
