'Parties who support illegal migrants upset with SIR'
Jaipur, Oct. 29 -- Political parties who support illegal migrants and added many of their names unlawfully to the voters list on purpose are upset with the special intensive revision (SIR) process, state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Madan Rathore said taking a dig at the Congress on Tuesday without naming the opposition party.
"SIR is a much needed process and good for making a fair voters list. It will remove the names of such voters who have either passed away or are not a legal citizen of this country. Some political parties, who support them and added their names illegally to make a vote bank are only upset with the SIR process," he said addressing the media.
Rathore further added, "There are some specific people who have nothing to do with this country. They come, eat, sleep, and leave when their purpose is over. They have no say in the welfare of this country. They can't have the right to choose administrators."
"However, they make a good vote bank for some parties who never think about the people but only want to win the elections. They have added their names illegally to the list. Why would they want an SIR?" Rathor said.
He also criticised ex-CM Ashok Gehlot for opposing the process. He said, "Gehlot must think about the people's welfare over his party's interest. SIR must be done."
The development comes as the Election Commission announced the SIR survey across the state from November 7, for which the BLOs will be trained from October 28.
Referring to the upcoming by-poll in Anta, Rathore further said, "BJP will win this election. Our candidate is fair, eligible, and his image is free from any criminal or corrupt activities. But, the Congress candidate has been convicted in several cases, he also has a slew of corruption charges. People will not spare him"
BJP has fielded a local leader Morpal Suman, who has remained panchayat pradhan in the area while the Congress had fielded three time MLA and former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya.
Anta seat fell vacant after BJP MLA Kanwar Lal Meena was convicted and imprisoned in a 2005 criminal case of threatening a government official.
Rathore has said that the party is clearly heading toward victory in the Anta assembly by-election. He attributed the likely win to two main factors - the BJP's strong, disciplined organisation that remains closely connected to the people, and the party's decision to field an honest, capable, and service-minded candidate.
In contrast, he said, the Congress has nominated a candidate facing several criminal cases and serious corruption charges, who is currently out on bail. "The public now understands that those who enter politics only for power cannot truly serve the people. The BJP's candidate is a genuine public servant, and the blessings of the people are with us,"said Rathore .
Commenting on the recent unseasonal rainfall across Rajasthan, Rathore expressed concern that the irregular showers may have damaged crops in several regions, causing distress to farmers. He said the BJP stands firmly with the farming community and urged the state government to conduct crop loss surveys in the affected areas so that accurate assessments can be made and timely compensation provided to farmers....
