'No meaningful action in Raj by PM'
Jaipur, May 21 -- Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for repeatedly visiting Rajasthan without delivering on promises made to the state. Speaking at a public event, Pilot said, "the Prime Minister has visited Rajasthan multiple times - both before and after the elections - and made several commitments. Yet, there has been no meaningful action."
He pointed out that despite BJP winning all parliamentary seats in the state during the previous election cycle, Rajasthan has consistently been neglected in the Union Budget. "When the Finance Minister delivers her three-hour-long budget speech, we wait in vain to hear even a mention of Rajasthan. There is no central funding, no special package - it's deeply disappointing."
Addressing newspersons in Jaipur, Pilot also emphasised the importance of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), which the Prime Minister had earlier announced as a national project. "There has been no implementation. They just signed an MoU, but no one has seen what that MoU actually contains. If the Centre promised funding, it must follow through."
"It's good that the Prime Minister visits Rajasthan, but he must back his words with concrete announcements that serve the state's interests. Simply delivering speeches and leaving will not be acceptable."
Pilot further criticised the handling of disqualification matter of BJP lawmaker Kanwar Lal Meena in the Rajasthan Assembly, calling it "deeply unfortunate" that no action has been taken despite a clear court order.
BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj said the decision over MLA KanwarPal Meena is pending before speaker, and the BJP has not interfered. "In last 11 years the PM has left no stone unturned in the development of Rajasthan," he added....
