Jaipur, June 7 -- Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot slammed the BJP-led government over the ongoing "infighting" within Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), blaming it for the "deterioration" of the cricket administration and the disappointment faced by cricket lovers across the state. "Ever since the BJP government came to power, the disputes within RCA have left cricket enthusiasts deeply disheartened. The government formed an ad-hoc committee, but persistent infighting has made even hosting IPL matches in Rajasthan a challenge," Gehlot wrote on X. He added that conflicts between the ad-hoc committee, the State Sports Council, and the Sports Department are affecting the sport's progress in the state while the government remains a "mute spectator." Gehlot highlighted that, legally, an ad-hoc committee is allowed to function only for three months, during which elections must be held-but it's been one and a half years, and no elections have taken place. "Disputes are ongoing between the ad-hoc committee, the sports council, and the department of sports, while the state government remains a silent spectator. Legally, an ad-hoc committee is permitted to function only for three months, during which elections must be conducted. However, it has now been one and a half years, and no elections have taken place," he added. Gehlot contrasted the situation with the positive developments during the tenure of Vaibhav Gehlot as RCA President. "During Vaibhav Gehlot's tenure as RCA President, the association was recognised for its positive developments. The ban imposed by the BCCI on RCA was lifted in 2019, and Rajasthan once again began hosting international and IPL matches. State-level tournaments including the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) were organised, and the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur was renovated, where RPL and CCL matches were successfully held. Additionally, in partnership with the Vedanta Group, construction began on one of the world's largest cricket stadiums near Jaipur-a project that has now come to a standstill," he said. Calling the situation grave, Gehlot urged the state government to intervene immediately to resolve the crisis within the RCA. "Considering the future of cricket and cricketers in Rajasthan, and the sentiments of millions of cricket lovers, the state government must intervene to end the ongoing turmoil within RCA so that cricket in Rajasthan can progress and flourish." Convener of the Ad-hoc committee and BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani said, "What Gehlot is saying has no connection with cricket. Cricket is running smoothly in Rajasthan. The IPL was successfully conducted in the state, regardless of who organised it."...
