India, Nov. 2 -- H
e turned 30 on November 1, and in just eight years of acting, Ishaan Khatter has already worked with international filmmakers and bagged a film, Homebound, that's been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars this year. Now, the actor's gaze is firmly set on new projects in the West.
Asked how much of his focus is on Hollywood, Ishaan says, "As much as it is here. For me, it's always been about going wherever the good work is. Having featured in projects such as Don't Look Up (2021) and The Perfect Couple (2024) alongside Nicole Kidman, Ishaan says he's proud to have represented South Asians in a fresh light. "I was able to break that glass ceiling with a role that wasn't written for an Indian. Everyone noticed that it felt new, a different way of showing a South Asian male. It's about time. I want to play parts that aren't defined by identity but by character."
While his international journey gathers momentum, Ishaan says his roots will always ground him: "Being rooted is who I am. India is home, and I'll continue to find great stories here and keep surprising audiences as an actor."
On stepping into a new decade, he laughs, "They say your 30s are like your 20s, only you know yourself better and have more money! The early years are about figuring yourself out, and doing that in front of the camera is another ball game."...
