'Done more in 20 months than Congress in 5 years'
Jaipur, Oct. 10 -- The 20-month-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is way ahead of the five years tenure of the previous Congress government, deputy chief minister Prem Chand Bairwa said on Thursday.
"The BJP government is working with a proper roadmap ahead. In the last 20 months, we have done a pile of things that the Congress failed to do in their five years long tenure previously. Our CM is committed to the development of our people including the youth, women, and farmers," Bairwa said during a press conference at the BJP state office in Jaipur.
Giving details of the government's works, he also said that at least 32,000 farm ponds have been set up in two years as opposed to 29,000 in Congress's five years.
"Around 77,000 farmers received pipeline connections in the last two months as opposed to 40,000 in Congress's five years. At least 32 lakh (3.2 million) names of the ineligible beneficiaries were removed from the NFSA list while another 59 lakh (5.9 million) new people were added paving the way to provide the scheme to the deprived ones. BJP has done at least three times more work in the last 20 months in Rajasthan's every sector than the Congress. The BJP government and the party organisation are working together for the development of Rajasthan," said Bairwa.
Referring to the water scarcity issues in Rajasthan, the deputy chief minister said that the BJP government is the one who has given a shape to the ERCP project (now Ramjal Setu project) which "has been stalled by the Congress for a long time."
"Congress was aware that the water scarcity is the biggest ordeal for Rajasthan's people. Yet, they haven't done anything but politics with this project. The BJP government has not only signed an MoU but had also started construction work of the first phase of the project within a year. We have also signed another MoU with Haryana for Yamuna water share to provide water to the Shekhawati region," said Bairwa.
Addressing the presser, BJP MLA Kuldeep Dhankhad also said that at least Rs.5 lakh crore of the total Rs.35 lakh crore MoUs received in the Rising Rajasthan global summit, were already put in reality. "The works of these MoUs have started after the allocation of funds. This will generate a huge amount of jobs in the state," said Dhankhad. The BJP government is also the first to provide round-the-clock electricity to the farmers across 22 districts. The previous Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government failed to do anything to address their power crisis," he added.
He said that 76 lakh (7.6 million) farmers have benefitted from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Rajasthan for which the state disbursed Rs.8,409 crore so far.
He also said that the state had shown a significant performance in reducing crime rates. "We have formed SITs to probe the paper leak cases and organised crimes. The rates of any type of crime has been declined. Our police are also taking quick action against any cases that are being reported. While the lawlessness was at its peak during the Gehlot government, the BJP brought peace back in the state."
Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said, "BJP has only worked to collapse the government system in terms of basic facilities. Schools have collapsed one after another, patients are dying as ICU caught fire, children died after having spurious cough syrup. Recently, a businessman died after being shot dead. Government has failed in all these three sectors of education, health, and law."...
