Barmer, Dec. 13 -- A tech developer from Barmer, Deepak Sharda, has created Bharat PIN, a digital address system that assigns every home, shop and locality a unique digital identity. The innovation offers precise, reliable and easily verifiable location information, addressing long-standing challenges in delivery services, governance, and emergency response. His startup was recently recognised at the Rajasthan Innovation Centre in Jaipur during the 2025 Innovation Festival. The state government has announced support to scale up the initiative, and the chief minister on Friday awarded a grant of Rs.5 lakh to encourage further development of the project, acknowledging its potential to benefit communities across Rajasthan and the country. Bharat PIN works by giving every address a combined alphanumeric and PIN-based identity. For example, a code like JPRF-2457 reflects the district, local administrative division and the specific locality, ensuring that no two places share the same digital code. Once Aadhaar and mobile verification are completed, each household receives its unique digital address, eliminating confusion caused by similar-sounding or incomplete addresses. Sharda says the idea emerged during the Covid-19 lockdown, when incorrect addresses and delivery delays became a major challenge. The country loses crores of rupees every year because destinations cannot be identified properly and logistics often fail due to poor address clarity, he said. To resolve this problem, he designed a system that assigns every house and locality a unique digital identity. Deepak believes the system will significantly ease logistical operations, improve the implementation of government schemes, reduce address-related errors, prevent misdelivery and fraud, and strengthen emergency services by enabling faster access to accurate locations. It is expected to become a reliable tool for citizens, students, farmers and administrators alike. Sharda, who grew up in Barmer, studied in Kota and worked abroad in the technology sector, eventually returned to India to start his own venture....
