Water pipeline leakage sparks public outcry
Gurugram, June 26 -- A complaint regarding a burst in the main water supply line in the Housing Board Colony of Sector 31, filed over three months ago, remains unresolved, raising serious concerns about public health and civic inaction.
The complaint was registered by resident Anurag on March 18 and assigned to junior engineers with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG)'s water supply department.
However, residents allege that despite multiple follow-ups, no remedial action has been taken.
"This is a matter of drinking water contamination. Clean water is leaking continuously, and when it rains, this overflow mixes with street dust and sewage, posing a direct threat of waterborne diseases. We have raised the issue on every possible platform," said Jitender Jaggi, general secretary of the Sector 31 housing board.
Jaggi added, "Even after three months, no technical team has visited the spot."
Locals fear the situation could escalate with the onset of monsoon. "Accumulated dirty water will mix with rainwater and might enter the drinking water supply pipelines leading to a disease outbreak," said a resident. With around 2,500 people depending on the colony's water network, residents say the lack of timely action has put their health at risk.
Anurag, the complainant, said he has followed up multiple times via phone, email, and social media. "Officials keep saying they don't have the labour and no budget available at the moment. I have not received a single official response so far," he said.
Despite repeated attempts, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) concerned could not be reached for comment....
