Lucknow, Sept. 25 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday formally requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transfer four key monuments currently under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to the state government, as part of the state's efforts to revive Bundelkhand's historic legacy. The sites of Talbehat Fort (Lalitpur), Kalinjar Fort (Banda), Madfa (Chitrakoot) and Barua Sagar Ghats (Jhansi) have been identified as heritage assets with untapped tourism potential. If transferred, the state plans to upgrade these landmarks with better infrastructure, visitor facilities, and global outreach initiatives. An official of the tourism department said, "These monuments are not just relics of the past; they are engines for future growth." He further said that their development will create jobs, attract global tourists, and reintroduce the world to Bundelkhand's rich civilizational history. A heritage study by CEPT University pinpointed 31 culturally significant sites in Bundelkhand, four of which are under ASI control.
