Two held for duping man of Rs.5cr in fake real estate projects
Gurugram, April 25 -- The Economic Offences Wing of Gurugram police arrested two directors of a shell firm on Thursday from Noida's Sector 62 for allegedly duping a resident of Rs.5.4 crore in two fake real estate projects investments.
According to officers, the accused are a 60-year-old resident of Delhi and a 40-year-old from Ghaziabad. Police said the two had formed a shell firm to dupe people by making them invest in fictitious real estate development plans. They showed two land parcels to the complainant and said these were upcoming real estate projects. Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said the two accused had promised him to give sale rights of 50 lakh square feet for Rs.450 crore after developing them into commercial projects. "They made him pay Rs.5.4 crore in but never entered into any agreement," Turan said. Police said the victim grew suspicious and got to know that the lands were disputed and under government's control....
