Toddler killed after being hit by speeding SUV in north Delhi
NEW DELHI, Nov. 4 -- A 14-month-old boy was killed after being hit by a white SUV in outer north Delhi's Samaypur Badli on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The accused, 20-year-old student Samar Choudhary of Rohini, was arrested, officers aware of the case said.
Deputy commissioner of police (outer north) Hareshwar Swami said the victim, Raunak, was a resident of Raja Vihar.
A police officer, requesting anonymity, said a call was received around 2pm about an accident near Balaji Nursery on Siras Pur Road. Locals caught the accused while the child was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, polica said.
Raunak's mother, Poonam Devi, said she was going to the market when "he started walking a little ahead and got hit by the car." The accused told police he was heading to a car wash at the time of the incident....
