Taxi driver forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram', assaulted
Agra, Nov. 27 -- A Muslim taxi driver was assaulted by two men after they forced him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' here, police said on Wednesday.
Rahees, 58, from Shahganj in Agra, told police that he was parking his taxi car at the Metro parking near the western gate of the Taj Mahal on Monday afternoon when he was stopped by the two men who were on a motorcycle.
"The two men, whose bike was without any registration number, asked me to chant 'Jai Shri Ram'. When I asked them who they were and why they were asking him to do so, the two caught hold of my beard and thrashed me. Other drivers rushed to me when I called for help. The two men threatened me and fled," as per his complaint.
"Later, I was told that my video was being uploaded by one Thakur Rohit alias Dharmendra Pratap Singh, a vlogger who often posts religiously inflammatory videos," stated Rahees.
Three people (two unnamed and Rohit) have been booked in a police case registered under section 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 302 (uttering words to harm religious feelings) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67A of the Information and Technology Act 2008 at the Tajganj police station on Wednesday, said station in-charge Jasveer Sirohi....
