Gurugram, Oct. 25 -- Palwal has witnessed a significant decline in stubble burning cases this year, with just two farmers booked for burning crop residue, officials said on Friday. The incidents occurred in Januali and Kithwari villages, and FIRs were filed at Chandhut and Gadpuri police stations respectively. Interestingly, both cases were reported by fellow farmers, highlighting growing community awareness. Palwal deputy director of agriculture, Babu Lal, said, "Our teams visited both sites and found clear signs of stubble burning. Separate complaints were filed and police booked the two farmers." The drop is stark compared to last year, when 23 cases were reported across the district. "This is a positive sign. Around 324 nodal officials from various departments have been deployed to monitor stubble burning and create awareness," Lal added. Extensive campaigns this year educated farmers on the harmful effects of burning and promoted alternatives such as super seeders and balers. Officials also guided farmers to report stubble disposal on the government portal to claim incentives of Rs.1,200 per acre for safe residue management. Lal said these combined awareness and enforcement measures have drastically improved compliance in Palwal.htc...
