Rudrapur, Aug. 20 -- A stray sambar deer that had strayed into the premises of Lalkuan railway station in Nainital district was rescued on Monday evening after a joint operation by forest officials and a veterinary team, officials said. The animal, believed to be in distress, had taken shelter behind bushes near the Government Railway Police (GRP)outpost, triggering concern among railway staff and passengers. The GRP immediately alerted the forest department, which launched a rescue operation around 7 pm. "Our team first attempted to catch the animal using nets, but the sambar kept running around and evaded capture.
