Gurugram, Oct. 29 -- Unidentified suspects were booked for liquidating the fixed deposits of a 72-year-old woman by hacking her phone through a phishing link, police said on Tuesday. The victim, a resident of Central Park Flower Valley in Sohna, was expecting a parcel from Kolkata during Durga Puja and searched online for the courier firm's contact number. The number she found was fake, police said. A senior police official said the caller impersonated a courier firm employee, claiming the parcel was on hold due to a PIN mismatch. "On the pretext of helping her update details, the suspect took her Aadhaar number and sent a WhatsApp link that downloaded a phishing app, giving them phone access," the officer said. The suspects made the woman log in to her private bank account in Gopalpura, Jaipur, and enter debit card details. During a 90-minute WhatsApp call, they liquidated her FDs and transferred Rs.87,118 via UPI. Sandeep Turan, PRO of Gurugram police, said an FIR was registered. "We are trying to trace the suspects and arrest them," he said....
