Skywalk to link Ggm metro with Yellow Line
Gurugram, May 6 -- The originating station of the Gurugram Metro project will be constructed parallel to the existing Millennium City Centre metro station and it will be connected with the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro through a skywalk between these two stations, according to the design finalised by the detailed design consultant (DDC) of the project, Systra, officials said.
The first station of the Gurugram Metro will be sandwiched between Fortis Hospital and the existing metro station, and it could be either constructed on the vacant land adjacent to Z Chowk or the main box of the station could also be built above the flyover located on that road, officials, aware of the matter, said.
The Millennium City metro station will have three exits and it will be designed in a manner that it is accessible to the people through Dr Ambedkar Road, Fortis Hospital Road and the existing metro station of the Yellow Line, which will also be connected through the FOB.
"The metro station will be constructed either at the land adjacent to the Fortis Hospital or the main box of the station could come up above the existing flyover connecting Ambedkar Marg and Arya Samaj Marg. Both the designs are under consideration and the best will be chosen. The objective is to build a station which is accessible to people and doesn't impact the vehicular traffic while it integrates with the existing Millennium City centre metro station," said an official of the project constructor, Systra.
GMRL, meanwhile, to facilitate the construction of the originating metro station of the Gurugram Metro and nine other stations in the first phase has sought permission from the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to use around 5,800 square metres of additional land for construction of entries and other structures at first ten station along the metro alignment.
"It is requested to give a no objection certificate (NOC) for the use of land parcels for Metro," said Namrita Kalsi, chief architect, GMRL in her letter to the HSVP.
An official of the Gurugram Metro project contractor, meanwhile, said that they are in the last stages of completing the ground penetrating radar survey of the metro stations and they will submit a report within a month.
"This survey will identify the existing utilities below the stations and help in shifting these. The ERT survey has already been completed," he said....
