Gurugram, May 4 -- Six lanes of the two carriageways of the Delhi-Jaipur expressway will be shut systematically from Sunday in order to complete the construction of a foot overbridge at Narsinghpur, traffic police officials said. They said that the lanes between Delhi to Jaipur and Jaipur to Delhi will be shut one by one between 9am and 6pm. Officials said that the bridge was installed within six hours on March 27 and some welding work of metal sheets remained incomplete, which has now been scheduled for Sunday. Gurugram police public relations officer (PRO), Sandeep Kumar, said that the welding work would be initially carried out on the carriageway leading towards Jaipur. "The three lanes of the carriageway underneath the bridge will be shut one by one as per the requirement. Traffic will be able to move on the two other lanes that will remain open. In a similar manner, work will be carried out above the carriageway leading towards Delhi and the lanes will be shut one by one," he said. Officials said that traffic police personnel will remain deployed at the spot with cones and diversions to alert the oncoming traffic several metres ahead. The 110feet-long bridge worth Rs.1.6 crore was installed after authorities realised that the area is prone to accidents when pedestrians and people from nearby villages were hit by speeding vehicles during their attempt to cross the expressway. The road via the Dwarka e-way underpass will remain shut till Monday, officials said. Meanwhile, a private firm will carry out repair work on the road connecting the underpass of the Dwarka expressway from Basai to Sector-110. Traffic police officials said that the repair work will begin from 8pm on Saturday and go on till 11am on Monday....
