Sector 46 locals rue poor road upkeep
Gurugram, Sept. 15 -- Residents of Sector 46 in Gurugram launched a campaign titled "Gaddhon Se Azaadi" (Freedom from Potholes) on Sunday to protest the poor state of roads. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said potholes made commuting unsafe, while Sandeep Thakran called them a "direct threat to human life." Pawan Yadav from the market association noted businesses were suffering.
Vardhan Yadav, Congress district president (rural), who led the drive, alleged: "Funds were not lacking, what's missing is the will to deliver safe roads."
In response, Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana Cabinet Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, stated the government had initiated extensive repair work across the district to improve safety and address public concerns. DCP Traffic Rajesh Kumar Mohan confirmed police had repeatedly urged civic bodies to repair accident-prone stretches. A Municipal Corporation of Gurugram spokesperson said repairs were being done phased, including Sector 46.
Residents rejected piecemeal solutions. Raj Kumar Yadav warned: "If nothing changes, we will continue raising our voice until Gurugram gets the safe roads it deserves."...
