Gurugram, July 24 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has decided to dig trenches along roads to help reduce chances of waterlogging and at the same time recharge groundwater, said officials on Friday.
Subhash Yadav, head of the urban environment division at the GMDA, said, "At present, green belts are at the same level as the roads due to which not enough water percolates down. By lowering the level, more rainwater can be used for groundwater recharge and help in reducing waterlogging to some extent."
A trial is already on the way at the Sector 43 and Sector 27 near Max Hospital, said officials.
