Probe on after Hry singer uses expletives on stage
Dehradun, April 13 -- After sharing a stage with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at a college event in DAV PG College in Dehradun, Haryanvi singer on Saturday allegedly used abusive language during the event, prompting the police to launch an investigation into the matter, police said on Sunday.
According to police, complaints have been filed against the singer in several state police stations, including Dalanwala, Rishikesh and Srinagar.
Meanwhile, the singer issued an apology for his actions in a video message.
The incident occurred on Saturday during a student union event at DAV PG College, where the singer, while referring to an alleged goon whom he claimed had come to kill him.
He further alleged that the alleged goon was lurking outside the hotel where he was staying in Dehradun.
Sharma allegedly used objectionable language on stage, targeting the alleged goon.
The video of the incident went viral on the social media.
Superintendent of police (City) Pramod Kumar said that singer Masoom Sharma allegedly used objectionable language during an event at DAV College.
"In this regard, Dalanwala police station has initiated a detailed inquiry. Further action will be taken based on the findings that emerge during the investigation," the officer said.
Singer Masoom Sharma said that a goon was loitering around the hotel where he was staying.
The singer said he and his team could not sleep due to the stress of being, what he claimed, killed.
In a video message on social media, the singer said, "That anger was inadvertently expressed on stage. If my words have hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologise."
Meanwhile, Independent MLA from Khanpur, Umesh Kumar, who was present on the stage when the singer allegedly used abusive language, has issued a clarification on the matter.
"I was present on the stage, but it is not correct to say that the chief minister was also there. He had left around 45 minutes earlier," the Independent MLA said.
"I tried to take away the microphone and even attempted to stop him, but he pushed my hand away," Kumar said," he added.
"For the past one week, a gangster from Haryana had been following him and had even reached Dehradun, outside the hotel where he was staying. He was under stress throughout the night. However, using abusive language at a temple of education is condemnable. I cannot support him for that," he added.
"Those who are protesting are justified, but twisting facts and trying to inflame the situation is not right," the Khanpur MLA said....
