nuh launches cyber vigilance drive to curb digital fraud
Nuh, June 9 -- The district has launched "Cyber Warrior Panchayats," a grassroots initiative aimed at combating the region's rising cybercrime, especially in 60 villages flagged as digital fraud hotspots. These villages-mainly in Punhana, Ferozepur Jhirka, and Tauru-have been linked to interstate cyber fraud networks using cloned SIMs, UPI, and fake accounts, officials said.
"Cybercrime poses a serious and growing threat, and we must act decisively to protect innocent citizens," said chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at a Mewat Development Board meeting. "These Cyber Warrior Panchayats will serve as our grassroots defence mechanism-empowered villages are our first line of resistance."
Over 1,000 FIRs related to cyber fraud have been registered in the district in the last three years. Deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said, "This is not just about enforcement but education. We want to build digital resilience within our villages."
Panchayat members, teachers, youth volunteers, and influencers will be trained in cyber literacy and digital vigilance. Implementation, involving banks, telecoms, police, and IT experts, will roll out in phases in the coming months. Digital hygiene will also be taught in schools, officials said....
