NRI woman robbed of passport, money on Agra-Firozabad Highway
AGRA, Dec. 6 -- An NRI woman, who originally hails from Hathras, was robbed on the Agra-Firozabad highway on Thursday evening. Her wallet, containing $4,000, her passport, an iPhone and Rs 20,000, was snatched. Police registered a case at the trans- Yamuna police station against two accused, and a search is underway for the absconding individuals.
The victim is 83-year-old Kumari Burman, who resides in USA, along with her two daughters, following the demise of her husband. She had come to India with her elder daughter to attend her nephew's wedding in Jaipur and arrived in Agra two days ago.
Burman and her daughter left the hotel in a cab, booked through a travel agent in the Tajganj area of Agra, on Thursday evening to catch a flight on Friday morning.
As the car crossed the Shahdara flyover on the outskirts of Agra and approached Jharna Ka Nala on the Agra-Firozabad highway, two men on a scooter came near the vehicle. They signaled to the driver that the tyre was punctured and then sped ahead. When the driver stopped to check the tyre, the two men on the scooter returned and robbed Burman....
