Notices issued to 46 schools in Haldwani
Haldwani, April 10 -- Uttarakhand education department has issued show-cause notices to 46 private schools in Haldwani in Nainital district for allegedly forcing students to purchase books from private publishers instead of those prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), officials said.
Govind Ram Jaiswal, chief education officer (CEO) of Nainital, said the action was taken following complaints from parents regarding the compulsory purchase of costly books from designated shops.
Officials found that several schools were allegedly pressuring parents to buy books, not prescribed by NCERT from specific shops.
