New Delhi, Aug. 3 -- The Delhi government has dropped its plan to install outdoor air purifiers at Nehru Park in south Delhi's Chanakyapuri after a survey indicated that a majority of park visitors instead preferred more trees to improve the air quality in the area, environment minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said on Saturday. "We are no longer installing outdoor air purifiers at Nehru Park. We wanted at least 80% of visitors to vote in favour of this plan, but only around 50% want it," Sirsa said. In June, the Delhi government had announced a pilot project to create a "clean air zone" in Nehru Park by installing 150 outdoor air purifiers inside.
