Dehradun, May 6 -- The clash that took place in Banjara Wala between two groups from different communities last week wasn't communal, Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) said on Monday, adding that there were attempts to give a communal colour to it on social media. "On May 1, we received information about a quarrel in the Monal Enclave area in Banjara Wala under the jurisdiction of Patel Nagar police station. Our police personnel from the Cheetah unit rushed to the spot. Upon arrival, they learnt that Anish Ali, a resident of Bhogpur in Bharuwala Grant, was on his way to attend a wedding ceremony with his family. When his vehicle broke down in front of a shop in Monal Enclave, it caused a traffic jam in the area. This led to a dispute between Sanjay Rawat, a resident of Monal Enclave, and Anish Ali. The argument escalated into a physical altercation between the two parties.....resulting in injuries on both sides," SSP Ajai Singh said. The officer said that the clash was triggered by a car getting stuck in a drain on a narrow road, which led to a traffic jam. "However, some individuals on social media are attempting to give the incident a communal angle. The police is closely monitoring social media and identifying such individuals, against whom strict legal action will be taken," he added. "Both parties got FIRs registered at Patel Nagar police station. The police seized the digital video recorder of CCTV cameras nearby. A probe is underway, and action will be taken based on the evidence and video footage," he further said....
