Meerut, Nov. 15 -- The skeletal remains of 50-year-old fodder trader Dharmveer Singh, missing since October 30 from Moradabad's Katghar area, were recovered on Friday from a sugarcane field near Adalpur Taj village under Amroha Dehat police station. His son, Kuldeep, identified the decomposed body from the clothes and slippers. The family has alleged that Dharmveer was murdered. According to the post-mortem examination, the cause of death could not be ascertained due to the advanced decomposition. Authorities have preserved the viscera and DNA samples for further testing. Dharmveer, a resident of Durgesh Nagar in Katghar, is survived by his wife Kamlesh Devi, a son and six daughters. Family members said Dharmveer left home on the afternoon of October 30. Shortly before leaving, around 1:30 pm, he received a call from a man identified as Mobin. After this, Dharmveer disappeared. When he did not return home by evening, his family launched a search, but both his and Mobin's mobile phones were switched off. On November 1, the family registered a missing complaint at the Katghar police station. Police had been investigating since then. On Tuesday evening, villagers near Adalpur Taj spotted skeletal remains in a sugarcane field and informed the police. Wild animals had consumed much of the body, making immediate identification impossible.
