Gurugram, July 4 -- The Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd (GMRL) will construct the Bakhtawar Chowk (Sector 47) metro station above the underpass which is proposed to be built at the crossing to facilitate smooth movement of traffic. The construction of the metro station over the underpass will ensure access for commuters from all four sides, officials said. Earlier, the metro authority had planned the construction of the metro station on the left side of the road ahead of Bakhtawar Chowk. A senior GMRL official said that as part of a new proposal, they are planning to construct the metro station above the Bakhtawar Chowk underpass, and it will be connected to all four sides of the crossing through foot over bridges and will ensure that people can get easy access to the metro station. The authority is also planning to build four entry and exit gates, one towards the Ikea Mall, the second towards Sector 46, the third towards Sector 38 and the fourth towards Sector 39. The GMRL, on the recommendation of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, will be building an underpass on the crossing, which will be around 600 metres in length. "The Bakhtawar Chowk metro station will be constructed above the underpass under the new plan as it will give better access to commuters," said a senior GMRL official. Earlier, the metro company officials had planned to build the Bakhtawar Chowk metro station or the Sector 47 metro station from Subhash Chowk towards Hero Honda Chowk. As part of this plan, one entry and exit gate was to be built near the under-construction shopping mall and the other was to be built on the other side of the road. The new plan has been made on the recommendation of the detailed design consultant hired by the GMRL. The GMRL is building the Gurugram Metro extension from Sector 44 to Cyber Hub, which is around 30.5 kilometres long and includes two spurs.
