Metro staffers hit in 'revenge' crash on MG Rd; probe underway
Gurugram, June 18 -- Two Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) employees were critically injured after a car, allegedly driven by a drunk man, rammed into their motorcycle in a suspected act of revenge following an altercation over rash driving, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place around 1.30am on June 4, on MG Road near Sector-28, opposite Sahara Mall.
The victims, Umesh Kumar, 33, and Krishan Kumar, 30, are senior customer relation assistants posted on the Yellow Line. Umesh, who hails from Rewari, lives in Sector-28, and Krishan, originally from Jaipur, resides in Sikanderpur.
According to police, a Mahindra XUV 3XO with a Delhi registration hit their Royal Enfield motorcycle. Umesh sustained six fractures - three in his right hand and three in his facial bones - and underwent hand and facial plastic surgery at a private hospital in Sector-38, where he remained admitted for over 10 days. Krishan suffered deep cuts and bruises.
Umesh was able to file a complaint only on Monday, following which an FIR was registered at DLF Phase-I police station under relevant sections of the BNS.
Speaking to HT, Umesh said they had just handled a woman's suicide case at Chattarpur metro station and left office past 1am. "A car with five people first hit us and fled. I chased them and intercepted them at a U-turn, but they attacked us. I rode against traffic to escape. They chased and hit us again," he said.
Rajesh Bagri, station house officer of DLF Phase-I police station, said, "The car's axle broke and a tyre exploded. A patrolling van reached immediately, and the occupants fled," he said. Both vehicles were seized, he added....
