MCG rolls out tractor trolleys fleet for park waste mgmt
Gurugram, March 8 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has procured 26 tractor-trolleys to boost the collection and transportation of horticulture waste from parks, green belts, and roadside areas.
Priyadeep Soni, junior engineer (horticulture) at MCG, said that 26 of the 40 trolleys have been delivered so far, and the remaining 14 are expected soon. "We've started using the available fleet, the remaining trolleys will be acquired soon," he said.
Officials stated that the corporation previously hired these trolleys. The waste is processed using composting pits and machines in Palam Vihar D-Block and sectors 23, 46 and 57, they added.
Horticultural waste includes biodegradable material such as tree prunings, branches, twigs, and fallen leaves.
To be sure, MCG reimburses RWAs maintaining about 1,450 parks at Rs.4.63 per sqm. Parks without active RWAs are maintained by NGOs or through public-private partnerships, officials said.
