Gurugram, May 17 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Friday dismantled two illegal advertising poles and removed hoardings from 26 advertising sites due to non-payment of dues, officials said adding, that the campaign, led by the MCG's advertisement branch aimed to remove risky displays from the city. The civic body's enforcement teams took action in Sector 109, where an illegally erected unipole on government land was removed. "No advertisement is allowed without prior approval from the corporation, and overdue payments will not be tolerated. Our teams will continue to take strict action to remove illegal hoardings," he added. The civic body's latest drive follows a major incident last month when a heavy unipole collapsed during a storm near Bajghera on the Dwarka Expressway, injuring two people and bringing traffic to a halt for several hours. The incident highlighted the risks posed by poorly maintained advertisement structures. To streamline the disposal of seized structures, MCG had constituted a committee in March to manage the valuation, auction, and documentation of abandoned unipoles. The committee has been tasked with auctioning these and the proceeds will be added to MCG's advertising revenue," said a senior MCG official....
