Gurugram, April 27 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp messaging service to provide residents with civic services, alerts and real-time updates, officials said. The initiative aims to reduce the need for residents to visit municipal offices for services such as property tax payments, water and sewage bills, and complaint tracking. Officials said the platform will also send notifications regarding schemes and monthly payments. Residents can register by pinging +91 7840001817 on WhatsApp. Once registered, users will begin receiving automated updates related to civic services and public information. "All the important information will reach residents through this WhatsApp service. Most of their queries will be answered through the WhatsApp service itself. They will also receive it if there are any prior disruptions in the water supply. Such notices will be shared through the WhatsApp service," said Pradeep Dahiya, MCG commissioner. Officials said the service will help residents avoid penalties through timely reminders and provide real-time complaint status updates related to sanitation, streetlights and sewerage.
