India, May 23 -- The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) has announced a series of measures, including setting up a centralised control room to address complaints related to waterlogging and malfunctioning street lights, officials said. Municipal commissioner Ayush Sinha chaired a meeting with the engineering wing of the civic body on Thursday, emphasising that all junior engineers (JEs) and sanitary inspectors will be held accountable if monsoon preparedness is not up to the mark, they added. During the meeting, Sinha directed civic officials to ensure that areas which witnessed waterlogging last year-such as Ramapura village, Ramapura Chowk, IMT Chowk, Bhishm Mandir underpass in Manesar village, Naurangpur Road, and Sikanderpur Badha-should not face the same situation this year. He stated that timely cleaning of drains, ponds, and deployment of high-capacity pump sets should be completed well before the monsoon arrives. Engineering officials informed the commissioner that major desilting work has already been completed in Ramapura village, and ten pump sets with a capacity of 10 HP each have been hired. Tractor-mounted pump sets will also be deployed at Ramapura Chowk and Bhishm Mandir underpass to quickly respond to any waterlogging. "The water from last year's rainfall had reached knee-deep levels near the Bhishm Mandir underpass. If the administration has planned drainage and deployment of pumps in advance, it gives us some hope," said Narender Yadav, a resident of Manesar village. "Any waterlogging incident will result in direct accountability of the area's junior engineer and sanitary inspector," the Manesar civic body chief said. Meanwhile, the electrical wing of MCM has been asked to set up a complaint management system, specifically to respond to malfunctioning street lights....
