Man tries to stop sexual harassment, stabbed to death
Gurugram, Feb. 11 -- A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death by four suspects in Faridabad on Monday evening after he protested against alleged sexual harassment of his friend's sister, police said Tuesday.
The deceased, Jai Singh, a resident of Girdawar Enclave in Faridabad's Palla area, was attacked between 7.30 pm and 8pm, police said.
Inspector Satya Parkash, station house officer of Palla police station, said, "Jai was stabbed at least 14 times in the neck, back, chest and abdomen in quick succession, leading to his death at the spot. However, the exact number of wounds will be confirmed after the autopsy."
Police said four suspects are on the run, with two identified as Sonu Khan and Tushar, also residents of Girdawar Enclave and described as "anti-social elements".
According to police, Jai was with friends Saurabh Singh, 29, and Sonu Kumar, 31, at a ground near their locality when Sonu's 25-year-old sister reported that two men had passed lewd comments at her. "Sonu, along with Jai and Saurabh, approached the suspects and scolded them, leading to a heated argument," Parkash said. The suspects left but returned with two more associates in a car within half an hour.
Police said the four suspects later returned armed with knives and found Jai alone. They allegedly stabbed him repeatedly without giving him a chance to defend himself and fled. Saurabh raised an alarm and Jai was taken to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
On a complaint by Jai's elder brother, Jagat Singh, 36, police registered an FIR under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita....
