Gurugram, July 29 -- A 33-year-old man was arrested from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Palla in Faridabad on Sunday night, for allegedly strangling his girlfriend to death over marriage, police said on Monday. They identified the accused as Deepak Kumar from Mohan Baba Nagar in Delhi's Badarpur. The crime branch team nabbed Deepak when he was trying to collect money from someone while fleeing. He ran an e-commerce platform-based apparel business, police said. Deepak and Shiba, an executive with a private bank's NIT Faridabad branch, were in a relationship for over 10 years. Shiba was reported missing when she failed to return on the evening of July 24. Her body was recovered next morning from a hotel room in IP Colony of Faridabad's Sector-31. Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad Police said the couple were in an interfaith relationship for 10 years. "The accused told the police that Shiba kept compelling him to marry her after changing his religion. However, he was not ready for it," he said. The two had checked into the hotel by 3:00pm, a routine for the couple, who frequently met at hotels, said Yadav. After consuming alcohol, the two started a fight over marriage and in a fit of rage, Deepak strangled Shiba to death with her scarf, he said. Police said the hotel's booking details and CCTV footage helped identify the accused. Based on the complaint of Shiba's mother, a murder case was registered against the accused at Sector-31 police station on July 25....
