Man sleeping on roadside run over by speeding truck
Gurugram, May 23 -- A 45-year-old man, who was asleep on a cot in an empty plot along NH-48 near Sidhrawali died after he was allegedly hit by a speeding truck, police said on Thursday.
Police said the accident in Sidhrawali took place at 2am on Wednesday. They identified the deceased as Ganesh Kumar of Amar Colony in Delhi. He worked at a transport firm located near the spot. They said a truck had run over Kumar while he was asleep on an empty plot of land along NH-48.
Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said the identity of the truck driver has been ascertained and he would be arrested soon.
In the second incident, a 29-year-old contractual sanitation worker of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram was resting beneath a tree near the Sector-4 community centre when she was allegedly hit by a speeding vehicle and critically injured. They identified the municipal worker as Anju Devi, from Model Town in Delhi.
Based on complaints of family members, separate FIRs were registered against the drivers under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Wednesday....
