Gurugram, May 2 -- With the arrest of a man in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, Gurugram Police said on Thursday they have solved a five-and-a-half-month-old case involving the brutal murder and decapitation of a woman whose body was dumped in a canal near the Nepal border. The victim was identified as Jharna Biswas alias Puja, 35, a resident of Nanakmatta in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. After her divorce, she had moved to Gurugram, where she lived in a rented flat in Ashok Vihar Phase-III. She was reported missing on December 19 at Sector-5 police station. Her decomposed torso was recovered on Wednesday from the Nadanna canal in Khatima, about 40 km from the Nepal border. Police said she had been murdered on November 16. Mushtaque Ahmad, 30, of Gouri Khera village, was arrested on Wednesday and confessed to the killing. According to Inspector Sukhbir, SHO of the Sector-5 police station, Biswas left Gurugram on October 25.
