man booked for killing mason over pay dispute
Haridwar, Nov. 6 -- Police have registered a case against a labourer accused of killing a 40-year-old mason following a dispute over payment, officers from the city police station said on Wednesday.
According to police, the victim, identified as Ram Nivas, a resident of Puwaya in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead on October 14 at an unfinished building near Shantikunj in northern Haridwar.
Police said the postmortem report, received on Tuesday, confirmed that the death occurred due to strangulation.
"During investigation, it came to light that on the evening of October 13, the deceased Ram Nivas had a verbal argument with fellow labourer Satendra Kumar, a resident of Meerut, over non-payment of Rs.200. Since then, Satendra has been absconding," said Haridwar Station House Officer Ritesh Shah, adding that a case of murder has been registered against the accused and a team has been dispatched to Meerut to trace him....
