Gurugram, June 4 -- The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) on Tuesday demolished illegal constructions on 15 acres of a 37-acre disputed land parcel in Sector 21, saying no building is allowed on land under litigation. The action, backed by police, faced resistance from villagers. RS Bhath, district nodal officer (enforcement), said, "We pacified the protestors and told them that structures on litigation-hit land violate rules." HSVP officials said 15 unlicensed scrap yards and 30 tin sheds were razed during the drive, which will continue on Wednesday to clear the remaining 22 acres. Ajmer Singh, HSVP sub-divisional engineer, said encroachers were warned via public announcements. "Reoccupying this land will invite criminal action," he added.
